For example, i install adobe photoshop into my external hard disk instead of my internal hard disk. Reason being, i would like it portable and be able to run Photoshop at my client’s laptop/computer instead of investing on a brand new laptop/Macbook. Anyone ever try this before?

I haven’t tried it , but it should work, I can’t think of any reason it won’t as long as the other computer recognizes your disc drive and they are both Macs/Apple

Not likely under Windows. The installation of Adobe Photoshop would have stored critical run data in the machine’s Registry, which is on the C: drive, not the external. That data will not go along with the external drive to another machine.
Sorry.
