ok, this is how you survive in the industry, take it from a freelancer of 8 years

the clients are always, stupid moronic cunts…they have to be saved from themselves

so you take 50% deposit upfront, before even starting the project

this then gives you the upper hand, as the client has put in money, and there is less chance they will do a ‘runner’

you also use this to tell the client to fuck himself everytime they ask for a moronic change that would ruin the design.

If you cannot afford a bookkeeper I would highly recommend taking a Quickbooks training course. Just to make sure you fully understand the software and aren’t limiting yourself.

You don’t need an accountant or bookkeeper. There is software out there to keep things organized (Quickbooks for instance). I use HR Block for taxes and I do it online. When you are starting out you can’t afford to hire all these people. You can write off the Quickbooks and the HR Block tax software.

If you are just sending files over email you won’t have sales tax. It’s not a tangible good.
