yes, the deadlines are short – sometimes only a few hours, but usually at least one or two days. I typically do two sketches and one of them winds up going to final art. I only do more than two if the art director requests more or I have a third or fourth idea that I really want to explore. As for fees, the magazines usually control this, but I always ask for more if the prices seem low. Thank you for the kind words about my work!
Kyle, I was on your page and you only draw four thumbs or sketches, you must have short deadlines for editorial work. And would that be a flat fee since there so short?
I think ill try the 6×8 Intuos 3 tablet first, then the Cintex later on, the price is a little more friendlier at $300.00. ..lol. I saw your work on the Hundreds site and I thought I’d ask….Im trying to get back into my art or freelancing and the pencil or brush like lines fits my style, with some shading here and there. It might take me some time to get use to a blank drawing area though..!!
Hi, Kowboy1963,
I draw mainly with an old Wacom 6×8 Intuos 3 tablet. I guess I’m just used to it, though I would like to give the Cintiq a try for an extended trial period. I do some work with the Pentel Pocket Brush, as well.
