What goes in to a Graphic Design portfolio for college?

I’m applying to art schools and I’ve done some stuff with graphic design and I have no idea what to put in my portfolio. I’ve done things on illustrator, foundation drawings done from observation & still-life, things I did last year in my AP art class, black and white ink drawings done for “basic graphic design” class. I have no idea what to use. Anyone that’s applied as a graphic design major before know what they used in their portfolio? I’m thinking about RISD, Pratt, and Syracuse if that has any relevance.

What exactly will a web design college class teach me to do?

I was interested in web design, and have been thinking of trying it out. What would that class allow me to do once I am finished. Will it give me the skill and training to design a decent website? Or do you have to take additional advanced classes to do much with it?

I plan on creating a website in the near future. I understand basic HTML but I know that doesn’t get me very far. So my idea was to take some web design classes and go from there. Help! Thank you!

Hi, I live on Long Island and I am finishing up my bachelors degree in graphic design and I after that I want to go for my masters degree. I want to try to become a college professor by teaching the graphic design programs and how the graphic design world works but what are the steps that you have to do in order to become a college professor? Also, what would be good colleges on Long Island to get your masters degree in graphic design? Any other advice or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How should I display my graphic design for my college art show?

Should I mount it on foam board? Should I frame it? I’m a senior in college and sadly this is the first opportunity I’ve had to exhibit my graphic design work. I have a gallery opening coming up in April that is exhibiting my work. I am not sure if it is proper for graphic design to be framed or mounted. I am hoping the answer is mounted because I am a poor college student and frames are expensive!! Most of my work is posters, logos, lots of grungy stuff. Any answers are most appreciated! THANKS!
